Значение первое - собирать, складывать, составлять.
Пример: На курсах вождения инструктор начинает объяснять курсантам, что же такое ездить и что такое машина вообще: "The car is made up of many parts, - Машина состоит из многих пастей, - и начинает перечислять, - wheels, tiros, doors - колеса, шипы, двери..."
Age before beauty, шутливое, но немного грубоватое предложение кому-либо пройти куда-либо перед вами; насмешливый, поддразнивающий и слегка недоброжелательный способ показать, что кто-то должен или может пройти первым.
