Why do you think Russia will return to socialism? Are there any preconditions? Or you're just missing the times when Soviet Union existed? I was 5 y.o. boy when Soviet Union split up so I hardly remember the life in USSR but the life I have in modern Russia is satisfied me. Ok, there are problems. The main is the big social gap between cities and towns in province, but returning to socialism doesn't help to solve it.
How do I live...?
I'm office clerk. I have degree in adv and economy. I'm wasting my life sitting in this goddam office. I hate the office life and things.
Of course I have dreams and aims! I'm too young and i feel the energy to change my life into better part.
When i was a child I loved to imagine how i will travel all over the world. Then I love music. I can't live my life without sound. When you feel vibes it's just... i can't describe this feeling. You're just flying without peels. In that way I study Cubase ‘cause one of my dreams is release my own tracks. I bought turntables and collect vynils. That’s why I bought my guitar. I’m deeply into it!
When I was a student in our adv classes we studied graphic design. I was 3-4 year student. Nowadays I’m keen of design again. I study adobe’s programs on my own. So I’d like to create my portfolio. This is another aim. And I’m thinking about University of Art in London and there’s another cute school in NY. But it’s all about money. Anyway where there is a will there’s a way.
I also want to understand and speak fluently Spain, French, German and English. I don’t mind ‘bout mistakes I just want communicate with people without barriers. Learning languages takes a lot of time and you have to select priorities in you life. It’s not easy when you choose between learning language and meeting girlfriend. So I think it is too many words for today! Just wanna be musician, producer, dj, graphic designer, earth walker, and interpreter and also write a book! Is that too much for one person?
As for me, I love foreign languages and its culture. I think that love helps me with studying. If you want to know the truth one year later I was a poor English speaker, I couldn’t speak and write in English fluently without dictionaries. I couldn’t understand what foreigners were talking about. I couldn’t get each word clearly when I was listening to their conversations. I was beginner or pre-inter. student to be exact.
But nowadays I am writing this post to you my friends. This is my experience. It’s really awesome when you are able to get all features that foreign language gives you. I think languages are my call. This is why I’m gonna be simultaneous interpreter. This is why I’m gonna quit my adv job. This is why I wanna get second higher degree as interpreter not translator. Translator is dreadfully boring occupation, I suppose. That’s why I’ve started to learn French and Spain.
I know you've got a tattoo in a secret place of your body and a couple somewhere else)))
I don't have any tattoo; sometimes I think about possibility of getting one but didn't do the direct step yet.
Well, I just imagine how the girls will look like in 40-50 years late, when they'll be lovely grannies with their grandchildren and all. And they'll be covered with tattoos.
Oh, my granny is rock! LOL
But I'm not against tattoos and all, I've just imagined situation))
Eksena, what do you mean by what was your first introduction? It was ABC and it was 5th form in the school where I learnt English. To be honest 6 years in school and 5 years in Uni gave me nothing. Headway is a complete useless book. Those stupid exercises and all! Somewhere inside me there was a guy who told me that textbooks are waste of time and it really was! We learnt German as well and we had this book Dolphin and awfully weird teacher thus providing it I loathe German, thanks to the teacher! Speaking about your research I can tell everybody may use this approach without any knowledge in Grammar or any word. Then, step by step, like a child you will pick up words, sentences, grammar etc. Three weeks ago I've started to learn French and Spanish using this method, so after a year send me a message and I'll give you an answer that I guess complete your research.
Rod, hanging out with Americans just helps me to pick up vocabulary but not accent. Well, to be honest with you it is useful tip but it is a long path. Anyway I do imitation I mean I listen to podcast many times then try to imitate every word and it kind of works. A few month ago there was a test for me I was in a great bash with my American friend and after we were pissed off of it we went to a bar just around the corner where we met some Russians they said: “Oh you Americans?” My friend said “Yeah” pointed at me and added “His native New Yorker”. I looked at him and thought “oh, his just want to fooling around, get ya it must be fun”. They asked me “Are you American?” “Better! New Yorker!!” I answered. So we talked all night and these Russians didn’t understand that I was Russian too haha. That was fun and a good test for me.
So, everybody say to me that I have good accent. What do I do? Imitation. Do it as much as possible. Ok, Rod, you’re native I bet you recognize me as non native speaker and I just opened this discussion hoping someone give a good advise but as I see just three are interested in it.
I’ve been learning English on my own for 1 year to be exact. I tried all sort of methods of learning and this method is one of my favorite. Many people all over the world studied foreign languages this way. Many linguists use this method and recommend it. As I said before one year ago I hardly knew English, I can’t speak & write and I did lot of mistakes in grammar tests (about 25-35 % right answers) but today I have about 90-95%. I think it’s very good result for me, coz I didn’t learn grammar and I don’t have linguistic degree. Yep, I’m not native Englishman but one day I will LOL and your sarcastic jokes don’t sweep me off my feet.
this one is Swedish Nordostsjokustartilleriflygspaningssimulatoranlaggningsmaterielunderhållsuppföljningssystemdiskussionsinläggsförberedelsearbeten LOL
Does it help you to get more engaged in discussions?
No, only interesting conversation is engaged me more into discussion :)
