Hello, Anton! What are your topics of interest?
Antonvdonsk, 578 days ago 0
What's up Leia! Sorry, for my topic. I just want a lot of communicating with other people.
Leia, 578 days ago 0
You did not do anything wrong, why are you sorry? I just thought that it may be easier for you if you start talking about something that interests you, that's all.
nastycoolcat, 567 days ago 0
I noticed that everybody feel sorry when they talking in English 'couse they embarrassed about theirs mistakes.
Leia, 566 days ago +1
Well, we have to take it easy and be patient with ourselves. It's good enough that we were interested in learning enough to come here and brave enough to start talking with other people. This is already a very big achievement, so we have to be nice to self and each other, and don't pay too much attention for the small mistakes. And, especially, there is no need to blame himself (or herself) for making mistakes or typing errors ("typos"). It will improve with time if we continue talking, and if after learning the correct words or phrases we'll try to use them in our own speech too. Children learn their native languages by copying the adults for many years, and nobody blames them for mistakes and funny pronunciation... :)

yep, we are all kind of child LOL

Oh, ok. I want to know who from you was in the English-speaking countries, how a lot of time and pleasant was there or no? If I have written with mistakes, please tell to me.
Leia, 578 days ago 0
You can try to visit this topic: http://www.rapidsteps.ru/en/en/talk/58
There is a guy, named Loafer2008, with the extensive experience in teaching English. He can give you some tips on your mistakes. I am thinking of asking him for some advise too.

And yes, you wrote with some mistakes, but don't worry: it's quite normal for the beginners. If you study structure of English sentences (I forgot how it's called) and read some texts written by English-speakers, you'll be much better off pretty soon. :)

Good luck on you studies. ;)
Poseidon, 535 days ago 0
Yes, Loafer2008 was the mostly advanced English-speaker. But as far as I know, he had already said us “Good bye!”. So Leia now we'll hope for you.
Leia, 535 days ago 0
Poseidon,
"now we'll hope for you" - means, for me to say you "Good bye" as well? ;)
Leonardo, 534 days ago 0
Ha-ha! I like your sense of humor Leia.
By no way! I hope you will give us useful advice in concern to the learning English. I see as advanced are you in this matter and how many different links you had offered.
Poseidon, 534 days ago 0
Don't feign you didn't understand me respective Leia. "Now we'll hope for you" - means your English is not worse than the Loafer2008's one. Consequently, after his (Loafer2008's) leaving the site we'll follow your example. At least I will.

Hi, i am a Tyumen man, and i want to learn English language. but my dictionary langauge is small. I search people speaking in english.
Exion, 576 days ago 0
:))) I was thinking what is Tyumen for a long time :). You have to learn some words and grammar to improve yor language level. Try some excersises on vocabulary and you can talk by ICQ with these people: http://rapidsteps.com/en/ru/talk/42
Michelle, 576 days ago 0
Maks it would be better if you wrote: Hi, I'm Tyumen and I want to improve my English, but my vocabulary is poor. So, I look for people who can speak in English.
Antonvdonsk, 576 days ago 0
Thank you Leia.

Antonvdonsk, 576 days ago 0
P.S. I think so will be right:

Hi! I am from Tyumen. And, I want to learn English, but my lexicon is small. I'm looking for people speaking in English.

but, not fact!..
Exion, 576 days ago 0
:)))
"I think so will be right:" - I think this will be better (right)...
Noone says the word lexicon. The word "vocabulary" would be better. "I'm looking for people speaking in English" - who speaks English. They spreak every day, but not right now.
Michelle, 576 days ago 0

Antonvdonsk, 576 days ago 0
Of cource, I see.
I have written that "but, not fact" )) Thank's Exion.

I like to improve my English vocabulary by reading the books that I have already read in Russian. Than helps me to make the correct guesses about the meanings of new English words without wasting time for "consulting" the dictionary for every new word. If the book is mine, I just underline these words with a pencil when I read and continue reading, guessing the meaning of the new words from the context and from my memory of the Russian version of that book. If after few pages I realize that I guessed wrong, only then I do look that word up in a dictionary.
Leia, 575 days ago 0
"That helps me", of course - sorry, it was a "typo" due to fast typing and not checking what I wrote.
Antonvdonsk, 575 days ago +1
Good technique Leia.
I learn English in all possible ways for me. I'm engaged under book, I read many texts, I look films, I listen to audio stories and I communicate with my friends who know English language. But while I still badly know English, and it you can see on my writing. I learn only thee month. Before at school, college and university I had on English language good estimations simply so, without knowledge. Now I have desire to learn English, and to pass examination IELTS.
Leia, 575 days ago +1
Anton, you have got a good reason for learning English, so it should not be too difficult for you anymore. I would suggest, that you can take some advanced grammar course in order to organize or "structurise" (this is not the correct word, I think, I just "translated" from russian "структуризировать") your extensive knowledge of English. Related to the fact that you decided to pass IELTS exam, why don't you consider taking some preparation course specific for that type of test? Try self-preparation guides/books from the library first, and if it does not help much, find yourself a tutor who know the format of that test well. The last requirement is important, because if the tutor (private teacher) knows the format of the test well, he or she will know how to train you well the fastest possible way.
Antonvdonsk, 575 days ago +1
Yes, of course, I want to find private teacher. Because, in my town not have special courses for preparation to IELTS exam. And while I search the teacher, I'm improving the knowledge of English. For that I have a lot of material, the information and preparatory tests.

Hi, I'm Natasha and I'd like to improve my English too couse I really like this language and nowadays it's very usef. But my problem is I'm embarrassed to talk due to of fear making mistakes in my speech.as for me speaking is one of the most difficult aspect of any foreign language. I can say that my lexical store is not so bad but most of words which I know I can't recognise in speech.I read the books with translation on Ili'ya Frank's method of reading. The structure of his books are built on repeating words during all books.Texts are divided on small parts and each of them are repeated two times.Firstly you can read it with translation and the second time without translation.I don't know but may be it will seem to someone useful and interesting. I'm sorry for my mistakes in writting .I'm glad that I found this site because I look for people who are intersted in learning and improving their English.
Antonvdonsk, 563 days ago +1
Hi nata! I read the books of Ilyas Frank too :) Now I read book "Three men in a boat".
Tell me please, do these books help you to learn English?
nata, 562 days ago +1
For me it's very useful because you can remember words without waste of time trying to find it in a dictionary. And also you can memorize words not learn them by heart due to they are repeated during all books.I've read W.S Maugham's stories and M. Spark.:)
Exion, 563 days ago +1
Your English is great! Why are you embarrassed?
"but most of words which I know I can't recognise in speech" - try to watch some Enhlish TV movies or hummoristic series, like Friends. And its cool to watch films with subtitles.
nata, 562 days ago +1
Thanks but I'm embarrased because of my speech I can't speak fluently wihout any fear to make mistake.I watch English movies and I really enjoy it .Subtitles are very useful for me. But without subtitles it's very difficult as I can understand only general meaning what they said.
I heard that there are English clubs in Moscow when people meet in cafe or gallery and discuss different thems in English.Has anybody visited clubs like these ?
I was very glad to get reply on my note.
Exion, 561 days ago +1
You should try to talk via Skype. Fing some native speakers and talk to them :). I heard about such clubs in St. Peterburg, but don't know about any clubs in Moscow.
