Salamandra, you probably can learn a lot right here by practicing among the many very competent student/members of Rapid Steps who are posting in discussions and learning by contributing and by participating! I am a native English speaker; however, I am not able to give individual lessons in grammar, conversation or vocabulary..so I post a lot and hope for you and everyone to respond as often as possible in discussions!
If you have been studying English for two years, surely you are more than competent to participate at a high level in discussions!
Believe me, you will benefit...I am seeing improvement occur with numerous other members of Rapid Steps!

To tell the true I have recently known that Rod is native American speaker. It dosen't matter who respond your post- the most main to understand and can answer interlocutor in English of cause ;))

Before than I came on Rapid Steps I was a member of several communities learning English language. I was disappointed and sad. It is time to time somebody was appeared to write several words-it was not a discuss, i would name it monologue...And once I found Rapid Steps. First impression was -It is not for me,I couldn't write or understand posts. With huge effort I wrote " hi! I am a new person here!" and I you, my dear Rod and Po answered me: Welcome! Feel free and try to take a part in discuss!"

TANKS AGAIN! I fill terrific and pleasure!

Thanks) But I want to improve my speaking skills, not writting skills. I have a language barrier. Nothing is as good as an actual conversation with another person. Practice makes perfect! Are you agree with me?
little_baby, 221 days ago +1
To appreciate the necessity to destroy your language barrier you may use several ways: to go in English-speaker country or try to find good interlocutor (it is more difficult). You absolutely right- a practice makes magic! Good luck. :))

Salamandra, did you try to find englishspeaking friends on such web sites as penpalworld.com for example? You can communicate Scype
Poseidon, 220 days ago +1
But better use Skype.

Salamandra! I also was as you! I had and I am having some english barriers! I also tried to find a site that can help me to overcome it! When I spoke with some Americans guys they did not get me! Because I spoke English (Great Britain with a terrible Russian accent)! I can tell you that the best way for you is 1) skype
2) English radio
3) Rapid steps (you can hear the right pronounciation of the words and take part in discussions, ask advices)
4) try to learn their culture, habbits and their life style!
I do not use skype but I try to hear such radio stations as Voice of America, reuters and others! After it I have done very good progress! During 2 last days I worked as interpeter and I was completely understood! I see my progress!!!
Salamandra! If I did not understand your question and gave you not sufficient answer, sorry! I am in process to perfect my knowledges in English!!!

Also,it is good for studing English to see satellite TV, to hear English music and so on.As for me,I have been learning English for about year and an half.I read about 10 English books, but anyway,I can not say that I know English, but I can read and write.Maybe it is transition between beginner and intermediate. I came to conclution that I must try to do my best to think in English.Without it,it is so hard to have more than intermediate.

Moreover, you must have a nice vocabulary,to know a score of words, their synonyms and antonyms.

No! Scype is not a good tool but if you have a close native English friend you can use it on the other hand this is waste of time. I don't think that someone want to spend his/her time to help just a random girl speak English.

Nobody speaks in England or US like they speak in VOA and Reuters or BBC or CNN.

Just find authentic English materials and use it and this situation with Americans won't happen again.

For example I bought learning program " American English". It is a complex of tests, grammar materials, words with opportunity to practice pronunciation, tasks, dialogs and so on. I am trying to hear English speech. I must confess first 5 times I couldn't understand nothing. :( But on 10 times of hearing I have begun to distinguish words. Oh, my pleasure, it was so terrific! Now I can retelling using my brain.

It is a good way to training pronunciation and perception of speaking speech!

You are a hard worker, little_baby! Keep it up!
little_baby, 216 days ago 0
Oh, Rod! Thanks a lot, but my work is not effective without live speech...
One my girl-friend several times has gone in US to practise language. She lived in family and worked in bistro. Now your language is perfectly! She can understand absolutely all things (songs, music, speech and so on).

It is my dream to take the opportunity to learn it in native English sphere.
